If you’re planning on hosting a 4th of July barbecue, we’re getting some great ideas of games at Dick’s Sporting Goods that you can entertain your guests with this weekend. After the show, we’ll post some video of great games.
I got to thinking about the games I’ve played and there’s one in particular that sticks out. I’ve only ever heard it called Polish Horseshoes. You take either two ski poles or PVC pipes and stick them in the ground 20 to 30 feet apart from each other. Then take two empty glass soda bottles (or whatever drink of your choice) and place them on top of the poles. The object of the game is to throw a frisbee at your opponents bottle trying to knock it down. Now scoring can be different, but here’s the easiest way to keep score. You get two points if you knock the bottle off the pole and your opponent doesn’t catch it. You get one point if you throw the frisbee without knocking the bottle down and your opponent doesn’t catch the frisbee. If you knock the bottle off and your opponent doesn’t catch that or the frisbee, you get three points. Note: you can’t catch the frisbee in front of the pole. I’ve played using different scoring, but I think that’s the easiest. Also, you can play to 11 or 21. Teams of two are the best. For an added challenge, each person can only use one hand. Have fun!
If you’ve got a game you love, please share!
