The guy next door vs. the guyliner

Please note my title tonight. Dramatic Ryan used that as his intro to the show, very very clever! ha

Kris won the coin toss, so Adam went first. Here we go!

Round One, Contestant pick: And the winner is… Kris. He had so much control over “Aint no Sunshine” and he made it his own (I could totally be a judge, isn’t that what they always say when they want to sound Idol-ish?). Seriously though, I’m a huge Adam fan but I’m not a fan of that jacket-thing. He did well, but Kris out-shined him.

Round Two, Simon Fuller’s pick: And the winner is…ADAM. Like Simon said, Adam was a million times better. He was able to show off more of his range and emotion. I did not see fireworks with Kris’s performance. I literally felt like I was back in college (go BSU) taking a time out from studying, and sitting outside listening to a group of guys play around with their guitar. I actually just forget what he even sang or how he sang it.

Round three, Kara’s song: And the winner is… No one. Why you ask? Well, that would be because the song was HORRIBLE. Something about mountains and hurricanes and dreams and “boundries.” Kara was even forced to apologize. Thanks, Kara. This was supposed to be the dramatic finale with a record selling song? I think most of us agree, not the best ending. However, it’s been an amazing season. I love this season’s top twelve. I think we have a wide variety of talent.

As for the next American Idol, I think Kris and Adam both deserve it. However, based on their performance abilities and voice range, I think Adam really does deserve it more. I know there are a lot of Kris fans out there who disagree with me strongly (Kevin and Allison you know who you are). Honestly, I think a lot of Danny fans are voting for Kris, so this is going to be a close call. Whatever happens, I know both of them will be successful.

Alright, I want to hear from you! Who do you think is going to win tomorrow?!

By the way, Carrie Underwood has to be the best Idol we’ve ever had. “Home Sweet Home” is amazing and she’s absolutely beautiful.

I agree! If Adam doesn’t win, it wouldn’t be fair. You hit the nail on the head when you said Kris’s song sounded like you were back in college. That’s what he reminds me of in general…a guy you would hear messing around with his guitar in his dorm room. Adam Lambert is the star!!

I know I’m reiterating some of your points in the following paragraphs, but I’m just copying this over from Steve’s Morning Show Blog and didn’t feel like editing.

The next American Idol should be Adam. Each week I couldn’t wait to see him perform because I never knew what he would do next. He wasn’t just doing competent covers as many of the other contestants were, he was taking songs and morphing them into completely new-sounding and original versions of their old selves.

That having been said, I think that fans of the recently departed Danny are much more likely to have transferred their vote to Kris than to Adam (both Adam and Kris have backgrounds in ministry, unambiguous sexual orientation, etc.). The only barometer I have for a possible Adam victory is that whilst attempting to vote for him for two hours last night, I got busy signals 90% of the time.

Kris could use the win more. It’s pretty obvious Adam can parlay this into whatever he wants– a rock group, Broadway, acting– while Kris is more of a one-trick pony. He does his Jason Mraz thing very well, don’t get me wrong, but a large contract to begin his post Idol career his much more vital to Kris Allen’s success.

To force the Idol contestants to do an atrocious song, “No Boundaries”, co-written by a judge, was a lousy way to end the competition portion of the season. Adam did more with it, but it was not a particularly catchy or well-written piece, and it’s unfortunate that whoever wins has to record and release it as their first single.

All in all, this was my favorite season of Idol to date, and a large part of what made it so great was Adam, Kris and Danny… but mostly Adam.

I think Kara was more then just sorry about that horrible song I think she was embarrassed as well she should be.I felt sorry for Adam and Kris for having to sing it~yuk.
I liked Adams first song but I liked it better the first time he preformed it. Kris was great with his first song and Simon called the round right.
Adams second song gave me my awaited for goosebumps. I agree with you about Kris’s second song, while very good it just was not ‘Idol’ good.
The third song, I hope everyone agrees should not even count.
Kris is very good, but the bottom line is that Adam is better. Adam will win.

gosh!! it sucks!! knowing Kris won the title, i believe that not all American idol winners deserve the title; just like what happened last season. So disappointing! He may won the title but Adam really proved what he got to be a superstar!!
