Taking Idol to the Movies…

It’s movie night on American Idol. They are paying tribute to popular songs from famous movies.

Apparently there was too much talking last week. So only two judges were allowed to judge the contestants at a time (well worth it because Simon gave a look everytime he couldn’t say anything.)

Idol fanatic Quentin Tarantino joined the seven contestants. He was HILARIOUS as a guest judge in 2003, with his brutal honestly. It’s nice to see a celebrity that doesn’t always play the good guy. I knew this was going to be a good week.

Allison: She sang “I don’t want to miss a thing” from Armageddon. Paula called her authentic and talented. Simon said she is the only strong girl in the competition. He has never heard of anyone or any girl taking on that song. Tonight, she was compared to Adam. I think it’s obvious those two are really the top contestants.

Anoop: He sang “everything I do, I do it for you”. Randy said the last couple of weeks, he has found his zone and he’s “rocking” the house. He liked the emotion jumping off of him. Kara said he found his place: pop sounds with soul. She said it was one of his best vocals of the season. He has continued to impress me week after week! Please don’t put him in the bottom three again!

Adam: He took on “Born to be wild”. WOW! After Paula finally calmed down, she said he is one of the bravest contestants ever. Simon said vocally it was incredible, but it was a little too dramatic. He said there will be a lot of people who loved it, a lot of people will despise it. Well Simon, I happened to really, really love the performance! One of the most entertaining performances of the season.

Matt: He sang “have you ever really loved a woman”. Randy said it started out cool, but sounded a little pitchy. He said it was not his best performance. Kara said tonight was two steps back.  I agree it was not his strongest performance. He will probably end up in the bottom two. It’s sad because last week was AMAZING!

Danny: He sang “Endless love”. Paula said from the opening, she wasn’t sure about the song. However, mid-way through his magic came through. Simon said he can’t fight the way he sang the song. He said he was dissapointed with the traditional version. I could really tell he had an emotional attatchment to this song, which made it more enjoyable.

Kris: He sang “Falling slowly”. Randy said it never caught on for him. He said it was pitchy. For Kara, it was one of his best performances.  They were totally divided, and so was I. It was interesting but not mind-blowing. He has a huge following, so I think he is safe this week.

Lil: She sang “the rose”. Paula said it’s a beautiful song and she has made it far. Simon said she is getting it completely wrong. He said there is no excuses anymore, and he’s getting frustrated. I thought it was a great performance. However, I see what Simon is saying. It’s like we lost the origional Lil. I want her back!

Overall, what a great night! There wasn’t a single train-wreck performance. As for the bottom three, it’s anyone’s game now. I have a feeling it will be Lil, Matt, and mabe even Danny. I have a feeling they will save someone this week!

Let’s hear what you thought of movie week!

I agree with you on almost everything…

    1. I hated not hearing Simon critique every contestant. I feel like he’s the only one that knows what he’s talking about!

    2. If Lil is chosen to go home, they will not save her.

I’m in agreement with Mr Z.

I think Lil butchered that song. I agreed with Simon on what he told her. I will say that she did try to make it her own but that song needed to be left like it was originally.
