The problem with Hollywood week…

Ai_hollywood_0103(2)

After two weeks of taking the stage in Hollywood, a few idol potentials are finally shinning through. In fact, I am convinced I have the top five already on my speed dial ready to cast my vote. However, I must admit, this stage in the game can be frustrating. Let me explain.

I see American idol in three stages:

1. The audition. This is our chance to get a feeling for the season and check out some of the raw talent. Let’s not forget about those poor souls who sound more like they are in pain, then singing. Unfortunately, Simon usually sets them straight. At this point, we have a few favorites that are heading to Hollywood.

2. The Hollywood Stage. The first time the one hundred and fifty something hopefuls take the stage in Hollywood, I get overwhelmed. You find yourself surfing the crowd for those two or three people you remembered from the first stage. Due to time constraints, you’re lucky if you recognize a third of the people (unless you decided to wear a bikini to the auditions, don’t get me started!).

3. America Chooses. I love this part of the game because at this point, whether you agree or not, there is a new Idol waiting to be crowned. Fans quickly fall in love with their favorite singers and spend hours after the show voting for them (and trust me, you can vote for hours). I believe this is the stage true idol fans live for, because you literally watch a normal Joe walk in for auditions after working a long shift at a local restaurant, transform into an instant star (Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson!).

Like I mentioned earlier, I have a few of my own favorites. However, I will wait until after Hollywood rounds are over to unveil my top contenders (hopefully they are still in the game). In the meantime, feel free to comment about your favorite idol hopefuls! Stay tuned!
