Crazy eight…

No pressure tonight, but Simon said this is possibly the most important night of their careers. It seemed like all the girls had their game faces on, let’s find out if they deliver.

Katie: Well, she is finally singing and acting more her age. However, close but no cigar. It’s always hard to start the night, but like the judges said, it just wasn’t her greatest performance. Katie is really starting to frustrate me because I know the girl was potential.

Siobhan: It started out very slow, but like Randy said, it’s hot! Ellen said she was captivated. Once again, we hear about how unique she is. Simon called it weird and a bit boring. I don’t agree with Simon. I thought it was impressive and it caught my attention. I do agree with Kara that Siobhan needs to figure out what kind of musician she wants to be.

Lacey: Randy said the song was boring, but it was her best performance. Ellen said the song was written for her. Simon didn’t love the song, but she sang it really well. Lacey really stood out to me tonight. She’s absolutely beautiful, but Simon is right, we are all still waiting for her big moment.

Katelyn: Randy said there was no connection. Ellen said there was no wow factor in that song. Kara said it felt like she wasn’t competing, just going through the motions. I totally agree. What just happened? It’s like she was just playing for her friends in a basement. The girl can sing, where was that tonight?

Didi: Loved it! Randy said it was a lot better from last week. Ellen thought it was a lovely performance. Kara said it was her favorite. Simon agrees with Kara! I am so glad they saw what I just saw. I felt it and I think she has proved that she is an amazing artist.

Paige: What just happened? It did not work. Randy said it was all over the place. He said it went flat. Kara said it was all wrong. Simon said it was a horrible choice and the arrangement was horrible. It’s such a shame because she has so much potential. Sorry Paige, you’re going home.

Crystal: Favorite performance of the night! Wow. Randy loved it, loved it, loved it! ha We heard you Randy. Ellen also agrees it’s the best performance of the night. Kara said it was a great song choice. Simon said she has confidence and is the one to beat. I haven’t been completely sold on Crystal, but she’s really moving up in my book.

Lilly: Second favorite performance of the night. She kind of sounds like Lacey and Didi, but has a higher range. Simon called her brave, but it didn’t have a wow factor because it was the last song of the night.

Overall, good night. Here’s the deal. I really, really like the girls this season. However, it is different. Last year, we had BIG voices like Allison Iraheta. This year, we don’t have that powerhouse, but we do have uniqueness. Everyone is so different, but I feel like these girls would actually sell records because they have a commerical voice.

Don’t forget, the guys are on tomorrow at 9!

I want to hear your thoughts!

Another night of eliminations…

It’s week two of eliminations. Tonight, we sent four more contestants packing. America: you got it right, sort of

The first contestant to be eliminated was John Park, one of my early favorites. His performance of “Gravity” last night was decent, but not enough to keep him another week. Boo. Side note: he performs in a capella group of at Northwestern University, I would love to see that!

John Park was the first contestant eliminated on Thursday night's 'American Idol'.

The second contestant to be eliminated was Jermaine Sellers. Predictable. He makes for great television and he is hilarious, but the onsie put me over the edge. He’s just not someone I can see as our next American idol. I really like his positive attitude though, good luck Jermaine!

Here’s where I have some issues. Hayleigh needed to go. She’s cute, commericial, and bubbly. She is not, however, our American idol.

Moving on. Michelle? What? I think she is extremely talented and needed another shot. Although I love Didi, she deserved to go home and she knew it. Sad.  At the end of the day, someone has to go home.

On a positive note, DANNY GOKEY! I am not a huge country fan, but I will wait hours in line to grab his CD! Is it just me, or is there something very comforting about him? He just makes me smile. I wish him the best and I hope we see a lot more of him.

Next week should be interesting. We have reached the point where the weakest have been eliminated. Let’s just hope everyone picks the right song.

Breaking news (not really). I just heard that Scott MacIntyre will be performing next week. I am so excited! I also heard Matt Giraud might be performing too!

Did I ever show you guys this picture? I actually met him at the Phoenix airport when I was visiting my sister. NICEST guy ever. He was very humble (as I was trying to act cool and calm even though I wanted to scream like a little girl). I enjoyed my time with Scott and I would love to sit down and interview him one day! Keep your eye on him, he’s going places!

Top ten girls

Last night, there was a last minute switch. Crystal Bowersox was rushed to the hospital, so the men took the stage. Will the girls be able to top some of the performances last night. I’m betting, yes.

Crystal Bowersox: Randy said he loved her. Ellen said she has pure, raw, natural talent. She hopes Crystal stays healthy. Does anyone know what really happened? Kara said tonight, she hit a new level. Simon like how she didn’t play the sympathy card. He underestimated her. Agreed! She’s one to watch out for. Simon even compared her to Kelly Clarkson.

Hailey Vaughn: Randy said it didn’t work. He said it was excruciating and way too pitchy. Kara said she is open, she knows who she is, unfortuntately, she needs another year to practice. Simon said it was a complete mess. Simon said she’s climbing off, clever Simon. I think it’s safe to say she’s in trouble. She is very cute though!

Lacey Brown: Randy said it was a good song choice, but she didn’t do anything special with it. Ellen thought it was adorable. Kara likes her tone, but says she has to step it up. However, she’s back in the playing field. Simon said it was better than last week, but she needs to show everyone she’s an artist.

Katie Stevens: Randy said there were some bright moments. He said she should tackle some tougher songs. Ellen said she still seems too old. Ellen doesn’t want to hear something in her dentists office. Kara said she’s frustrated because she knows Katie is talented. However, she’s not pulling us in. Simon agreed it is frustrating. He thinks she needs more experience and do more research. Simon thinks she will stay around. I agree.

Didi Benami: Randy said he doesn’t know what’s going on with song choices. He said it just wasn’t good. Ellen loves her voice and a great presence. However, wrong song choice. Kara says it wasn’t good. However, she is still a fan. Simon said it was all over the place. He said it was a wasted opportunity. I love her, and I hope she can move on from this.

Michelle Delamore: Randy said the song didn’t work. Ellen said she looks fabulous, and she did have a few moments. Kara said it was her favorite Michelle performance. She said it was believable. Simon said she did struggle, but she didn’t play it safe. I thought it was enough to get her through. Love the outfit!

Lilly Scott: Randy said this season is so unique. He loves who she does her own thing. It was Randy’s favorite. Ellen said she has “it”. Kara said she just had her first moment. Simon thought it was good, but thought she oversang.

Katelyn Epperly: Randy like it, but it was too slow. Ellen said she fell asleep and it was way too slow. Kara said she kinda loves her. Random. She needs to figure out who she is. Simon thought it was a smart choice. He said she becomes corny and needs to work on that. I think she is also someone to watch out for.

Paige Miles: Randy said there were too many words, he just wanted to hear her sing. He wanted to see the big notes. Ellen loved it. She said Paige has great energy. Kara said the song was supposed to be angry. However, she did appreciate her version of the song. Simon said she has failed to chose the right song, two weeks in a row. She has such a strong voice, she needs to nail the song next week!

Siobhan Magnus: Randy said she is so bold and fearless. Ellen loved it! Kara can’t get over the note. It was crazy how high she took it. Simon said she is such a strange person. However, she had some amazing moments. I absolutely loved the performance. She can sing!

Overall, once again, BIG improvement from last week. These girls are so unique and talented, I just hope they all find out what kind of artists they are and pick the right song.

As far as who is in trouble, Hailey for sure. I’m torn between Didi and Katie too.

What do you think?

Last minute switch, men take the stage

A little switch up tonight. The girls were supposed to go, but Crystal is in the hospital, so the men take the stage.  Let’s just say they have a lot of prove. I am still trying to get over last week!

Here we go, top billboard night.

Michael Lynche: Finally! A great song and a great performance. Randy even stood up and clapped. All the judges agreed. Kara said she finally gets it. She said he has the potential to be a great artist. Simon said he went from being a pussy cat to a lion in a week. Yeah, not the best analogy but I get what he’s saying. He’s saying big mike killed it!

John Park: Randy said it was a little better than last week, but it wasn’t great. Ellen said he needed more soul. Kara said much better than last week. Kara said he may not have a good connection. Simon said he’s going home.

Casey James: Randy said that was hot! Ellen said he sounded great. She said on paper, he is perfect. However, she wants him to move more and perform more. Kara said he took two steps back. Simon said he’s with Kara. What are they talking about? I guess the vocals weren’t the best, but his performance was out of this world! What’s in the box? haha

Alex Lambert: Randy said it was such an improvement. Ellen said it was so much better this week. He doesn’t have the experience, but he’s getting there. She loves the mullet. Kara said he has a recordable voice. Simon said it was a million times better. Simon also said he needs to have a killer instinct. I totally agree. Wow! He has such a great voice!

Todrick Hall: Randy liked the end of the song, but it’s like he’s changing the song too much. Ellen said she wanted to see him dance more. Kara said he’s all over the place and she doesn’t get it. Simon said move, but don’t sing. He said this show just isn’t for him. I kind of agree. I like the guy, but I don’t really get him.

Jermaine Sellers: Randy said it was better than last week, but it was so close but so far at the same time. Ellen loves his style, but it was off and he tried too hard. Kara said he is hitting some crazy notes, but he does too much. Simon is frustrated and dissapointed. I am too. He’s very talented, but I feel myself waiting for him to come out and kill it.

Andrew Garcia: Judges agree he’s picked two bad songs, the past two weeks. Simon and Kara both said they are dissapointed because he set the bar high from the beginning. The guy can sing, I just don’t get tonight’s song choice!

Aaron Kelly: Randy said the first half was brilliant, but the middle was strange. He said 200 percent better than last week. Ellen said he had more confidence, but wasn’t a fan of the song. Kara said she really liked it.  She said he’s consistent. Simon thought he actually went backwards. A fight broke out between Simon and Kara. I actually side more with Simon. The kid can sing, but I don’t know what kind of artist he is.

Tim Urban: Randy didn’t get it, and neither did I. Ellen said he should be on Glee. She said he is so adorable, but his strong point is not singing. Kara liked the song choice, but he didn’t make it his own. She said he looks the part, but it’s not all there yet. Simon said it was a huge improvement, and he made all the right choices. Simon likes his work ethic. Wow! Tim is so cute, but he’s really not the strongest singer.

Lee Dewyze: Randy said it was a bold move, but liked how he stepped out of his comfort zone. Ellen said he had passion. Kara thought it was a big improvement. She said he has a radio voice. Simon said raise your shoulders. He said he is way above the competition. I think Lee has such a natural, raw voice. I am a HUGE fan!

Overall, HUGE improvement. HUGE! It is going to be closer this week. I think John, Jermaine, and Todrick are all in trouble.

As of right now, Alex and Lee really stand out to me. Although, who doesn’t love big mike!

What do you guys think?

Time to send four home

joe-munoz-ashley-rodriguez.jpg I am still recovering from a not so impressive week. Both the guys and girls dissapointed me, equally. I have been hearing a lot of people talk about how this season isn’t looking so good. However, I know that’s not the case. If you watched Hollywood, WOW! Some of those contestants just blew me away. You want to know what the problem is? Song choice. I am not sure if this group is just picking unique or popular songs to be different, or they are just cocky. I don’t know and I don’t care. This group is talented and I better see some of that next week!

Moving on.

Just as I predicted, Ashley was sent packing. I didn’t think Janelle would be going home THIS early, but I knew it was only a matter of time. It’s sad because Ashley is extremely talented and commerical. It all came down to song choice in my opinion, you just can’t take on Leona.

Bye, bye Tyler and Joe. I would say Joe leaving was predictable, but I thought Alex would go home over Tyler. If Alex does not pick up his confidence, he will be going home next week!

The highlight of the night: Allison Iraheta! Love her! She is so akwardly talented. It was nice to see Kris Allen, too. It’s kind of crazy they would bring him on this early, but I can see the Haiti promotion.

By the way, Ryan announced 100% of the proceeds from the iTunes downloads of Kris’ performance will go to Haiti or you can text “Idol” to 20222 to donate $10.

Overall, these choices are fairly predicable. What do you guys think?

Top 12 guys take on their first live show

It’s time for the top 12 men. After last nights not so impressive performances, I am hoping the guys will learn their lesson and pick the right songs.

Todrick Hall: Ellen loved the fact that he took a song, and did something different with it. He is such an amazing performer, but he needs to step it up in the vocals. Simon said he’s a dancer pretending to sing. Simon went as far to say he “murdered” the song. I think Todrick is decent, but I’m not convinced yet.

Aaron Kelly: Simon said it was a good performance. However, he said Aaron needs to bring up his confidence. Did Simon just really call him “cute”? Moving on, Kara said he has raw, natural talent. She said he will get better each week. He will be around next week for sure, but he’s not my favorite.

Jermaine Sellers: Ellen loved his look and the song, but you can tell by her face, she did not like the performance. Kara said it needs to be more meaningful and special. She said the song was too old for him.  Simon said it was just too much over the top and he just blew it. Possibility? I think so.

Tim Urban: It was nice to see him brought back to the group, but was it worth it? Simon said congrats on coming back, but they made the right decision by not putting him through. He said his voice just isn’t great enough. Will people feel sorry for him? Kara said the music swallowed him up. Even Ellen said he’s adorable, but the singing was horrible.

Joe Munoz: Randy said it was not a great song choice, but he did a good job. Kara said his song choice was random, and she liked it. She also said he’s the best of the night. Simon kind of agrees. He said it was safe and predictable. I liked Joe, but Simon is right about him being forgetable. I am not sure Joe can be a big star, but he is adorable.

Tyler Grady: Simon said people will remember the performance, but for the wrong reasons. Kara said Jim Morrison is all over his wall and he’s too predictable. Randy says he was style over substance. I agree with all of them, but I also think there is a star quality about him. I think he will stay, but he needs to step it up.

Lee Dewyze: Ellen thought it was a good song choice, but thought he started screaming. She does love the tone in his voice. I agree! There is something about his voice that was appealing to me. Randy said he needs to pick harder songs. Simon thought it was the best performance of the night. He said Lee is a naturally good singer. Simon admitted he fought for him, so of course he will stand up for him tonight. Overall, I think he will stay and do well.

John Park: Simon said he doesn’t have an incredible voice to take on that song. He said there was no emotion. He went as far to say it was pointless. Kara said she agrees about the connection. She can’t figure out where he goes in today’s music industry. Randy said the song made him old, but there is a voice there. I have been a fan of John since auditions. If he wants to stay, he needs to better advertise himself.

Michael Lynche: Ellen said he has so much personality it’s bursting out of him.  Randy says he brings so much energy. Kara said it was good. I thought it was interesting she said if there were better performances, they would not have liked it as much. Simon said it right. He was like an opening act. I know he’s better than that, and I hope he sticks around.

Alex Lambert: Poor Alex looked horrified. Simon said it was uncomfortable, but he has a great voice. I felt like all the judges were acting like his life coach. They were cheering him on, telling him to be more confident. There is no denying his voice, I just hope he becomes a better performer.

Casey James: Are we saving the best for last? In the words of Kara, he is eye and ear candy. I have been a huge Casey fan all along (it has nothing to do with how GOOD looking he is). Let’s get serious, but he really did get the song choice right. Simon said it was his best performance. Let’s be honest, Casey is moving on!

Andrew Garcia: Simon said he was looking foward to hearing him, but he was dissapointed. He said it was too serious and indulgent. Tonight, he didn’t really take a risk. Kara said he took the risk, but it didn’t work. Andrew has always stood out to me, I just hope we see him again.

Guys, guys, guys. Have you not watched the show? STOP picking these songs. It was one poor song choice after another. This group is so talented, but we did not even see the half of it.

As far as who is going home, I think Tim, Alex, and John are in trouble.

What do you think? Don’t you agree these guys are so much better than what we heard tonight?

Top 12 ladies hit the stage

Big week for idol fans! The judges have made their top picks, and now it’s up to us. The top 12 girls hit the stage tonight, top 12 boys tomorrow! Don’t forget about the results show on Thursday!

Three full days of idol? Over kill? Absolutely NOT!

Love the teasing between Ellen and Simon. Ellen=hilarious

Paige Miles: From wiping her student’s noses, to taking the national stage, Paige is a standout. Simon said she sang a “cheap” wedding song. I agree. Simon did say she has the strongest voice in the group. Kara thought the song was brilliant. Ellen agreed and disagreed, wait, what? Did I mention Ellen is hilarious?

Ashley Rodriguez: She took on Leona Lewis. However, in the words of Kara, there were some bad moments. The judges thought she didn’t make the song her own. They want to see her step out and take a risk. Simon called it clumsy. Simon said she could be in trouble. I hope not. She really is talented, SO VOTE FOR HER!

Janell Wheeler: WRONG song choice. She was off key. It’s sad because I really liked her. Simon said she delivered 65 %. He said there were moments in the song where he really liked her. I think she will survive this week.

Lilly Scott: She was living on the streets last week, now she’s on national television. Good for her. It’s such a random song choice, and she really stood out. Simon said she is the best so far, but she doesn’t have star power.

Katelyn Epperly: Simon said even though she was screaming, he really likes her. He called her brave. Kara said she knows her voice really well. I agree with that. Kara brought up her makeover. She didn’t like the look. Coming from a girl with extremely curly hair, I agree. The makeup and hair looked like a trainwreck.

Haeley Vaughn: Holy screaming! I think she has to work on her technical abilities. Simon called her a wound up doll that never stoped smiling. He called it a mess. I wish I didn’t agree with him because I liked her!

Lacey Brown: Round two for Lacey. Randy didn’t think it was a good round. He called it terrible. Even Ellen agreed she is better than that. Simon said it was depressing and called it indulgent. Kara was throwing out ideas for next time, I’m just not sure there will be a next time for Lacey.

Michelle Delamor: FANTASTIC! In the words of Ellen, it just seemed easy. I want to see more. Simon said she is very professional, but needs to be different. Kara called her commerical and I agree. Everyone agreed she has a good look, good voice, but she needs to show us something unique.

Didi Denami: Great singer. Simon wasn’t convinced. He was looking for a spark. The judges didn’t see a star factor in her. Simon called it sleepy. I actually really, really like Didi. From the beginning, I have been a fan. That’s why I’m not a judge I guess!

Siobhan Magnus: Kara would not have picked it, but loved the song. For Kara, it was a thumbs up. She needs to open up her vocals and sing even bigger songs. Like Simon said from the beginning, she may be the black horse. Before tonight, I had NO idea who she was.

Crystal Bowersox: She’s only here for the paycheck? I was not a fan of the pre-interview. She pretty much admitted she’s not a fan of Idol. Does she understand all of the singers sitting at home right now punching a wall? This is their dream, and I’m not convinced she really wants this. She seems like a coffee house performer and I am not sold on her yet.

Katie Stevens: The song was way too old for her, well said Ellen. Simon said it was like her “mum” and dad prepared her for the performance. She needed to act her age. Kara said she was all over the place.  She has been a favorite from the beginning, I’m still not seing a star power.

Overall, I was not very impressed tonight. I will be the first to tell you this is a very talented group, but everyone was trying to be too different and unique. They need to take a walk or a breather, and pick better songs!

So, who’s gone? Well, I think Lacey is on her way out. Unfortunately, I think Ashley is as well.

What do you guys think? Two will be gone on Thursday, so give me your picks now!

Top 24 is crowned!

After tonight, we have our top 24 contestants. It’s now, up to us! Let me tell you, this will be a very exciting season. Honestly, I still can’t believe the talent this year. Not only do we have talent, but we have a wide variety of voices!

Here’s the rest of the top 24 that was named Wednesday night. I jotted down a few quick notes about each:

Girls

1. Janell Wheeler: Great raw talent, absolutely beautiful, needs to get over her nerves

2. Lacey: Bright red hair! Not sure what I think about her talent yet

3.Ashley Rodrigues: Huge fan, the camera hasn’t been on her much, but she is very commerical and talented

4.Krystal Bowersox: Very unique and different, not sure she will go very far

5. Katie Stevens: She has been a producer favorite since the beginning, not sure she has a star quality about her, but she does have a good voice

6. Lilly Scott: She has stood out to me this season, she knows who she is, but still has a lot of work to do

7.Paige miles: She does not stand out to me

8. Sibhan Magnus: Wait, who? Where did she come from?

9. Michelle Delamor: I honestly have never seen her before, so I have no comment! Am I alone here?

10. Hailey Vaughn: Very cute! She is very talented and I think she will be at least in the top six if she keeps sher cool

Boys

1. Tyler Grady: Very interesting, rocker, weird and akward dance moves

2. Alex lambert: Decent, but doesn’t stand out

3. Joe munez: Very talented, but he doesn’t stand out to me either

4. Jermaine Sellers: I haven’t seen too much of Jermaine, but I do remember him having a solid voice

5. John Park: One of my favorites! He has a voice that doesn’t match his face, I think he will go really far

6. Andrew Garcia: LOVE HIM! He has such an amazing voice and he has stood out

I have to say, I am very satisfied! I can’t wait until next week!

Do you guys have any favorites yet?

Here we go: Closing in on the top 24

Wait, two full hours of idol? Fabulous! They are doing things a little different this year, but I think it worked well.

Does anyone else notice the “Kris Allen” affect? If you look back to last year, we didn’t even know who Kris was until the top ten. I noticed a few singers that really stood out, but I have never seen them before. Do you think it’s just because they don’t have an interesting story?

Let’s just talk about this year’s talent. I know the judges keep using that as an excuse when they let someone go, but it’s true. I feel like this year we have a wide variety of talent and personalities. Every episode, I get even more excited about what these hopefulls can do!

So, Tuesday night they started the “top 24″. Once they narrow it down to 12 men and 12 women, the rest is up to America. I wrote down just a few notes about each contestant that is moving on.

Boys

1. Michael Lynche: Big guy, personal trainer, his wife gave birth to their first child during his auditions, someone to look out for

2. Casey James: Great story, was in a near-fatal accident, even though he has a little country in him, BIG FAN! It has nothing to do with how good looking he is…

3. Aaron Carey: Young, but very talented

4. Lee Dewyze: Seems over confident, but he has a very strong, poweful voice

5. Todrick Hall: One of my favorites, was in the color purple with Fantasia, very experienced, great dancer, great eyes

Girls

1. Didi Benami: Big fan, love her personal story, she is very unique

2. Katelyn Epperly: No idea where she came from, don’t care for her

Don’t worry, the drama will continue tomorrow!

Do you agree with my opinions so far?

The end to Hollywood week.. hopefully

It’s the dreaded group day. We all get a little taste of who can work well under pressure and who has a serious control freak problem (umm orange hair girl). I still can’t keep them all straight. An hour just isn’t long enough, I NEED MORE!

What about the girls from Fate? Ashley Rodriguez, Michelle Delamor and Charity Vance. Watch out for them!

In the promos, they mentioned Katie Stevens “knocking it out of the park”. She is the 17 year old high school student. I like her, but I’m not sold. I haven’t seen that star power out of her yet.

Overall, Group Night was entertaining. We had drama, tears, outbursts, begging, and even babies!

It’s fun to pick out some of my early favorites and see if I actually know what I’m talking about. Who are you guys rooting for? Has anyone stood out yet?

Also, I’m still interested in what you think about Howard Stern replacing Simon. Talk about controversy!
